Spend a full-on day with Wycliffe
Xplore is a one-day event where participants jump in face
to face with the realities of working in Bible translation
in another culture. Each person will interact with new friends
from another culture.
We’ll touch on the variety of factors that hang together
to make Bible translation happen:
- There’ll be language learning and phonetics with
speakers of a language other than English.
- Language has to be well understood to do a good job in
translation so there’ll be a glimpse at grammar and
translation techniques.
- If a translation is to be used there have to be readers
so there’ll be a look at alphabet building and
literacy.
- If the world is going to have its translation needs met
then we need to be training more local Christians to
do the job, we’ll check that out too.
Apart from the mind-stretching stuff, we will be enjoying
some authentic food from the host culture. Some translation
advisors from Wycliffe will also share why they are pouring
their lives into giving people God’s Word in their
heart language.
