Not only do people need to be able to read the Scriptures in their heart language, they also need to understand the meaning of the words they read.

When Ezra read the Book of the Law of Moses to the Israelites he read aloud in the language they understood. The people responded ‘and bowed down and worshipped the Lord…’ The Levites also read from the Book and ‘gave meaning to the words so that the people could understand what was being read.’ (Nehemiah 8:1-8)

Wycliffe Australia is continually seeking to bring the Word of God and an understanding of his love through the Lord Jesus Christ  to the needy and illiterate people in a language they understand best. To help this become a reality check out the current projects and use methods of giving (noting the project names(s) below) or contact: david_tilbury@wycliffe.org.
